Meet Our Founders
Jonathan Moo
Co-Founder & President, ruma Home
Jonathan Moo is the Co-Founder and President of ruma Home. An interior design graduate, he has more than 25 years of experience in the furniture trading industry, with a strong background in sourcing across Southeast Asia and China.
After leaving an established European company, Jonathan continued to develop his product design experience independently, creating furniture pieces for European and Australian markets.
Today, Jonathan focuses on ruma’s product design, sourcing, and store aesthetic — bringing together global furniture experience and a strong design eye to help create stylish, practical, and accessible furniture for modern Malaysian homes.
GK Hong
Co-Founder & CEO, ruma Home
GK Hong is the Co-Founder and CEO of ruma Home. He began his career in furniture manufacturing in 2001, gaining hands-on experience in production, sourcing, and the supply side of the industry.
After travelling internationally to visit furniture retailers and customers, GK saw a gap in Malaysia’s furniture retail scene: customers wanted stylish, well-designed furniture at more accessible prices. In 2015, he co-founded ruma Home with Jonathan Moo to bring that idea to life.
Today, GK leads ruma’s brand direction, retail growth, and customer experience, guided by a simple belief: good design should be practical, beautiful, and accessible to real homes.

Opened our first store at Atria Shopping Gallery, in Petaling Jaya. Starting from a 5,000 sq. ft. outlet, we expanded to 26,000 sq. ft. within five years.
